ABOUT
The General Store
The Saxapahaw General Store, as it exists today, began its transformation in June 2008 when Jeff Barney, a butcher and self-taught chef, joined forces with Cameron Ratliff, a teacher and self-taught biscuit maker. Collaborating with the store’s former owner and local visionary, Mac Jordan, they set out to reimagine the convenience store and gas station that had long served the community. Their vision was to create a welcoming gathering place where the village could come together for food, drink, and provisions. Drawing on their diverse backgrounds, they aimed to build a space where collaboration with neighbors could positively shape the community, offering a range of products designed to make everyone feel at home.
