Where Neighbors Become Friends…
Our Story
Nestled in the heart of Saxapahaw, the General Store began its transformation in June 2008, when Jeff Barney and Cameron Ratliff reimagined the space. What was once a humble gas station and convenience store became the cornerstone of our vibrant community, combining the warmth of a local hangout with the culinary quality of a fine dining restaurant.
Our shelves and menus are brimming with products from local farms and purveyors, showcasing the best of what our region has to offer. We take pride in being a gathering place where everyone feels at home, whether they’re stopping by for a cup of coffee, a hearty meal, or a friendly chat.
At the heart of it all is Saxapahaw—a town with a rich history of industry and innovation, where the past and future intersect in meaningful ways. The Saxapahaw Mill stands as a reminder of where we’ve come from, and the General Store carries that legacy forward, weaving old traditions with new possibilities.
Whether you’re a lifelong local or just passing through, the Saxapahaw General Store is a place to slow down, connect, and savor the simple pleasures of life. We’re proud to be a part of this incredible community and invite you to be part of our story.
At the heart of the Saxapahaw General Store is a dedicated team of chefs, cooks, bakers, and friendly faces who bring our community-centered vision to life every day. From crafting fresh, locally inspired dishes to keeping the shelves stocked with provisions, our crew is passionate about good food, good people, and the spirit of Saxapahaw. Whether you're stopping by for a meal, a chat, or supplies for the road, we’re here to make you feel at home.
